Before they pushed the button the leading sorcerer’s apprentices of the Manhattan Project, like mad scientists in a horror movie, placed bets on what would happen:
1] Total dud, fizzle. They had no idea what they were doing, so they hoped nothing would happen;
2] Mass destruction equivalent to 18 kilotons of TNT;
3] TOTAL DESTRUCTION of the State of New Mexico;
4] UNCONTROLLED CHAIN REACTION that would Ignite the Atmosphere, Encircling the Globe
in a Sea of Fire, Incinerating the entire Planet like a Star Dying in a Blaze of

Fortunately those words of the ancient Bhagavad-
Oppenheimer and other scientists spent the rest of their lives repenting of their enormous, inexcusable irrationality. More than a half century later those elemental Weapons of Mass Destruction are many, many times more destructive – and there are so many, many, many more of them.
So if we are crazy enough to bet our lives by putting the power of the sun a mere button flick away from world destruction at the fingertips of a leader, madder than those mad scientists who first unleashed the genie of nuclear annihilation, that ancient apocalyptic prophecy may yet be fulfilled:
