More than a half century after Russian tanks rolled over the rubble of Berlin, horrifying evidence of torture and inhumanity, smoking-gun memos – and even a recording by a high official saying the state has the right to torture children – has come to light.

One of the architects of unlimited war; mass destruction; terror and torture heard on the recording, earned the titles “Professor Torture” and “Dr. Torture.” It is chilling to hear “Dr. Torture” say the government has the right to torture – even innocent children?

The Supreme leader can’t be restrained in any way in pursuit of war. If anyone disagrees, he goes on a list of “unpatriotic” suspects. Because the state can do no wrong, to be a suspect is tantamount to guilt. The Leader is empowered to name any suspect, anywhere on earth an enemy –subject to death, torture, anything. This supreme power is beyond individuals, any number, so logically the Supreme Commander could “resort to genocide if he wished.”

Cassel: “If the (Chancellor) deems that he’s got to torture somebody, including by crushing the testicles of the person’s child, there is no law that can stop him?”

Dr. Torture: “No treaty.”

Cassel: “Also no law . . .”

Dr. Torture: “I think it depends on why the (Chancellor) thinks he needs to do that.”

Dr. Torture’s sick Memos are stuffed with legalistic nitpicking: “acts must be of an extreme nature to rise to the level of torture . . . The infliction of pain or suffering . . . is insufficient to amount to torture. . . Pain or suffering must be severe. . . To amount to torture, an act must be equivalent in intensity to the pain accompanying serious physical injury, such as organ failure or even death. . . I don’t see how it can be reasonable to have an absolute prohibition on torture.”

Roll over and dream all is well “because we allied with ‘Good Old Uncle Joe’ Stalin to put an end to such horrors wreaked by madmen long ago.”

Wake up! Those tapes and memos are not from Hitler’s long-ago regime. These sick arguments for torture are all from the Bush/Cheney regime – today.

The legalistic lawyer, who earned the name Professor Torture, is John Yoo, a key architect post-9/11 Bush Administration legal policy. Dr. Torture Yoo authored a number of legal memos arguing for unlimited presidential powers to order torture of captive suspects, and to declare war anytime, any where, and on anyone the President deemed a threat.

Listen to the pertinent excerpt from a “debate” between the learned John Yoo, now a professor of law at the University of Berkeley, formerly one of the unholy coterie of legal fascists – Dick Cheney, David Addington and Alberto Gonzales – dedicated to undermining the US Constitution. The debate was at Columbia University on December 1, 2005, when Dr. Torture Yoo argued there are no legal or Constitutional constraints on the President’s authority to torture.
